Lead protects the points where a roof meets something else: a chimney, a wall, a valley or a dormer. Fitted well it outlasts much of the roof around it, and it is often the first thing to fail when it is done cheaply or relied on with a smear of sealant.
We carry out flashing, soakers, saddles, aprons and valleys, using the correct lead thickness for the job and dressing and lapping it so it can move with the building without splitting. Where lead has failed, or been lost to theft, we renew it and make the surrounding tiling or brickwork good so the detail is sound.

Leadwork FAQs
Why does lead fail?
Usually because it was fitted in lengths that are too long, so movement splits it, or because a gap was covered with sealant instead of being dressed and lapped. Correctly sized, secured lead avoids both.
Can leadwork be repaired or does it need renewing?
Small splits can sometimes be dressed and made good, but lead that has failed from being oversized is better renewed properly so the problem does not return. We explain which suits the detail.
Do you carry out leadwork on dormers and bays?
Yes. Dormers, bays, valleys and the joints where a roof meets a wall are standard leadwork for us, and we set out the scope in your quotation.
Can you replace lead that has been stolen?
Yes. We renew stolen or damaged lead and can discuss alternatives or security measures where theft has been a recurring problem.
Is your leadwork guaranteed?
